Information about external competitions

In external competitions, we play in teams against other chess clubs. Each team member plays one classical game against an opponent from the other team. Your result counts towards the team’s total score and your personal ELO rating.

There are two types of external competitions: NOSBO and KNSB.

NOSBO is played on weekdays (in the evening, usually starting around 19:45) and consists of approximately 6 matches per year.

KNSB takes place on Saturday afternoons (starting at 13:00) and usually consists of 7 to 8 matches per year.

If you join a team, you don’t have to play every match — just indicate roughly how often you expect to be available.

For KNSB, the time control is 90 minutes per player, with a 30-second increment per move, and after 40 moves each player receives an additional 30 minutes.

For NOSBO, it is slightly shorter: 75 minutes per player, with a 30-second increment per move.

Teams are formed based on playing strength. No worries: we have plenty of players without a rating who also participate. So don’t let that stop you — if you want to play, we’ll make it happen!
