About JSV SISSA
JSV SISSA is a chess club in Groningen where players of all levels are welcome. At SISSA, chess is about more than just the game: there’s always music, drinks, and good company alongside the matches.
SISSA may have started as a student club, but today it’s a vibrant community open to everyone, where the social, relaxed spirit remains. Whether you’re a beginner, enjoy casual games, or take part in competitions, there’s a mix of chess events to suit every pace.

What we offer & our events
We offer different types of events. The main club night is called the Interne. Every Monday from 20:00 at Café Proeflokaal Hooghoudt (Gedempte Zuiderdiep 61, Groningen). You can join for a long classical game (typically 60–90 min) or on the last Monday of each month we organize a rapid / blitz evening. On the kalender you can find all the events.
Would you like to come by and check out our monday evening? You can join up to four times for free. Please send an e-mail to info.jsvsissa@gmail.com if you want to join us for a monday.
Aside from the interne we organize: Beginners’ chess, women’s chess, a rapid competition, snelschaak, Rapido’s and the popular summer chess tournament.
We also participate in external competitions. We play in the KNSB and in the NOSBO competition. If you like to participate in a team, you can find the info on the externe competition page.
Club calendar: All events, evenings, internal competition rounds and external matches are listed in our online calendar on the website. It’s the best place to stay up to date.
